Basics: Ways to Save Your Blackboard Materials

Development Shells are not to be used to store course materials. Blackboard courses and materials can be downloaded as package files.

To save files:

Go to the Course Management menu and select Files.

Select Files and then click on the course ID to display the files uploaded to the course

Scroll to the bottom of the list and select Show All.

Scroll to the top of the list and check the box next to FILE TYPE.

Select Download Package to create a zip file of all the course files.

To preserve a course as it is in Blackboard, an Export file can be created.

An Export file can only be restored in Blackboard, whereas a zip file created from the file list can be opened to view individual files.

To create an Export file:

Go to Course Management and select Packages and Utilities.

Select Export/Archive Course.

Select Export Package.

Select the course materials and click Submit at the bottom of the page.

An email alert will be sent when the package is ready for download.

Refresh the screen and click on the name of the package to download.
