Course Tools: Blogs and Journals

Blogs

Blogs can be individual to each student, a group, or the entire class to contribute to.

Blogs can contain text, images, links, multimedia mashups*, and attachments if allowed.

An index citing additions and changes is created as the blog is built.

Students can comment on each other's work.

There is an option to grade.

Journals

A private journal is between a student and an instructor. The instructor can comment on the student's work.

A public journal can be read by other students in the class, but they cannot leave comments.

Journals can contain text, images, links, multimedia mashups*, and attachments if allowed.

There is an option to grade.

*Multimedia mashups include Flickr and YouTube.
